Every Dream must have a Dreamer, also called the “Host”; however, the Dreamer is tied to their Dream. Erzi created the Anchor to act as the Host of his Dream using his fledgling powers. The totem allows him to roam freely outside of the Dream, should he so wish. However, this method is flawed:

  • Reality can become unstable, causing rules and even dream logic to become inconsistent.
  • Different layers of the dreams overlap.
  • The Anchor itself is a weak point that can be used to alter or destroy the Dream.

The Anchor appears to be a young Laurence in the field of white flowers. It’s based on one of the earliest memories Erzi had of him.
