Reality consists of dreams; mundane dreams of people and the universe-spanning dreams of gods. What is thought of as the real world, also known as the “Waking World”, is itself the dream of the Old One.
Since dreams influence one another, the copies of the same location can appear in multiple dreams and if the Dreamer is powerful enough, one dream can subsume part of another dream, essentially combining two planes of reality in one place.
The story occurs in the Dream of a newly birthed god.
Yharnam
Yharnam is an ancient city, so old and tied with the occult that it is spread across multiple layers of dreams and earth.
When Erzi absorbed Yharnam into his Dream, he placed the Anchor at the centre so it could control every part of the dream equally. Thus, Yharnam now centers around a large field of silver flowers.
